Michael Gentile (Vishnu)
Life experience, scientific study, and faith have molded my practice around the healing benefits of yoga and the belief that we have the power to heal our mind, body, and spirit. Yoga was found, after years of searching for the right wellness program, to restore a healthy balance in my life whereby time devoted to nourishing activities increased, with less time spent on depleting ones. Yoga practice restored this balance and helped rediscover unexpected routes to happiness, peace and fulfillment in a frantic world. My new purpose is to assist those with their yoga practice and help them realize the power within to heal and maintain wellness, to be free from suffering, be as healthy and happy as a body needs, and to have ease of being”. Janice's philosophy teaches with close attention to alignment guiding her students with compassion and humor so that they can gain knowledge, awareness and understanding of themselves through their practice. Yoga is NOT about being bendy...Yoga is about uncovering who you really are. Its about being kind to yourself so that you can be kind to others. Yoga is about discovering some of the thoughts that we create in our heads are not always reality. It's about slowing down to get strong. It's about breathing, moving and smiling... Janice got her Bikram certification in 2008 and 200 RYT through Yoga Polarity 2011. Janice is working towards her degree in Ayurvedic studies as a holistic health counselor.
Jane began practicing yoga more than 30 years ago while raising her two sons as a single parent. She soon realized that yoga was far more than mere physical exercise or stress reduction technique. Along with the asanas, she was drawn to the deep meditation and inner reflection provided by her favorite teachers. Her practice continued intermittently over the years and became firmly rooted when she retired from teaching in 2012. She completed the 200 hour teacher training through CTY. Initially, the training was simply a decision to deepen her own yoga practice, and now a calling to teach others is emerging in her heart. It is Jane’s deep desire to welcome beginners to the practice of yoga …to encourage those who may be reticent or fearful or merely shy, to try something new and different. Life has a way of closing us down, constricting our movements, restricting our breath. Yoga practice is a way to open again to life, to release the tightness of isolation, and to breathe more deeply with ease. It is a journey through the body to the Divine presence…and it’s never too late to be a beginner…humble and fresh on the mat.
